Since military and paramilitary “clearance operations” began at the hands of the Myanmar military in September 2017:
• over 800,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar for squalid and unsafe camps on the border with Bangladesh. The population density of the largest of these camps is 5x that of New York City. Diphtheria, cholera, skin and respiratory infections are rampant as 85% of the refugees do not have access to latrines.
• at least 24,000 murdered including almost 1,000 children under the age of 5.
• countless reports of gender-based-violence including mass rape and sexual assault of children.
• war crimes corroborated by soldiers’ testimony at the ICJ.
TAKE ACTION: Call 202-224-3121 and urge your #senators to support the bill S. 4659, the Genocide Determination Act. It will require the U.S. State Department to make a formal determination as to whether Myanmar’s attacks on the #Rohingya constitute genocide. #CallitGenocide
