EN: Yesterday I was in Assisi to sign the new Encyclical Fratelli tutti on fraternity and social friendship. I offered it to God on the tomb of Saint Francis, who inspired me, as in the previous Laudato si’. The signs of the times clearly show that human fraternity and care of creation form the sole way towards integral development and peace, already indicated by the Popes Saints John XXIII, Paul VI and John Paul II. Today, to you in the square - and also those outside the square - I have the joy of giving the new Encyclical, in a special edition of the Osservatore Romano. May Saint Francis accompany the Church’s path of fraternity, among believers of every religion, and among all peoples.

ES: Ayer fui a Asís para firmar la nueva encíclica, Fratelli tutti sobre la fraternidad y la amistad social. Se la ofrecí a Dios en la tumba de San Francisco, en quien me inspiré como en la anterior Laudato si'. Los signos de los tiempos muestran claramente que la fraternidad humana y el cuidado de la creación son el único camino hacia el desarrollo integral y la paz como ya indicaron los santos papas Juan XXIII, Pablo VI y Juan Pablo II. Hoy a vosotros que estáis en la plaza y también allí, fuera (de) la plaza tengo la alegría de regalaros la nueva encíclica en la edición extraordinaria de L'Osservatore Romano. ¡Qué San Francisco acompañe el camino de la fraternidad en la Iglesia entre los creyentes de todas las religiones y entre todos los pueblos!

IT: Ieri sono stato ad Assisi per firmare la nuova Enciclica Fratelli tutti sulla fraternità e l’amicizia sociale. L’ho offerta a Dio sulla tomba di San Francesco, che me l’ha ispirata, come la precedente Laudato si’. I segni dei tempi mostrano chiaramente che la fraternità umana e la cura del creato formano l’unica via verso lo sviluppo integrale e la pace, già indicata dai Santi Papi Giovanni XXIII, Paolo VI e Giovanni Paolo II. Oggi, a voi che siete in Piazza – e anche fuori dalla Piazza –, ho la gioia di regalare la nuova Enciclica, nell’edizione straordinaria dell’Osservatore Romano. Che San Francesco accompagni il cammino di fraternità nella Chiesa, tra i credenti di ogni religione e tra tutti i popoli.
