Standing at a whopping 13,775', the climb is rigorous, requires a combination of multiple alpine disciplines, and is outrageously fun. “As we laid asleep on our $5 tarp (laid out on the dry Wyoming ground), we were woken up to our 3 am alarm. Warm in our sleeping bags, we observed the twinkling spots of stars visible high above us. We knew that today would be one to remember, as we were attempting to summit the Grand Teton: a jutting spire-like Mountain located in Grand Teton National Park. Hiking through the morning we observed the sunrise glowing against the Glaciated Granite Summits, creating a surreal view of the landscape. Our climbing route was to gain the prominent Ridgeline to the east of the summit. The only thing between us and our goal was the along arduous approach coupled with a massive amount of roped up climbing. Our team pushed through mental and physical struggles as we achieve the summit of the Grand. Though, the more difficult and unpredicted challenge for us became the smoke from the wildfires as it rolled in and densely settled near the valley floor. Climbing up above the smoke line became the only option to breathe cleaner air.
