...ok so when giving Rocco Prestia his props I fell into a #KeithHatchell funk hole, only to discover Keith’s number one client the awesome #DJRogers passed away this August. No announcement, no fanfare no tribute from the press just nothing. Which is kinda a musician’s nightmare: if you plant beautiful trees a long time ago will anyone care if a new crop comes in decades later? He was a favorite amongst favorites. Did ALOT of background & organ work on The Gap Band, Carrie Lucas, Patrice Rushen, Gene Harris, Cheryl Lynn, Tom Jones—not to mention samples on Common & most known Big Sean. Even as an interlude I was just so mind blown at how he let Hatchell just run rampant doing a perfect RARE sixteen note execution—-I normally tell cats “less is more yo, calm down!” But man.....perfection. Thank You #DJRogers!
