The Campagnolo brand is closely associated with the epic contest between Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi, which thrilled and divided Italians.
Except for the difference in their ages, the two carried on their competition with equal weapons: like the Legnano of Bartali, the Bianchi of Coppi had adopted Campagnolo.
Using Campagnolo’s dual-rod gear changer, Bartali triumphed in the Tour of 1948, an encore to his success of ten years earlier.
