Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois he reported to Naval Technical Training Center, San Antonio, Texas where he completed Master-at-Arms “A” School. Upon graduation, he reported for duty at Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia in October of 2008 and performed Security and Force Protection duties. After a successful tour in Diego, Garcia was sent to the Department of Defense’s Military Working Dog Handlers Course. Other duty stations include Commander Navy Region South West in San Diego, CA from February 2010 to April 2014 as a Military Working Dog Handler. While Stationed at CNRSW he completed a deployment to Joint Task Force Bravo Honduras as a Military Working Dog Handler and was promoted the rank of Third Class Petty Officer. Shortly after returning from deployment he was promoted to Second Class Petty Officer. In April 2014, he transferred to Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic Kings Bay, GA as a Military Working Dog Handler, Kennel Supervisor, and was promoted to First Class Petty Officer in December 2015. En route to his next duty station, MA1 was assigned to Naval Technical Training Center for the Department of Defense’s Military Working Dog Kennel Masters Course. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in New Orleans as the Kennel Master, Training LPO, Armory and Range LPO and 2019 Sailor of the Year. In October 2019 he was deployed to Area Support Group, Qatar as the Kennel Master and Plans NCO, where he led eight Military Working Dog teams from initial combat training and through a nine month deployment during a global pandemic. His decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), Military Outstanding Voluntary Service Medals (3 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
