Another fantastic video by @projectnightfall. Though this video sheds light on the injustices occurring in Bangladesh, we cannot deny that the same thing is happening in our beloved country, Indonesia.

Statistics show that 90% of Indonesian women who experience some sort of sexual violence DO NOT report what has happened to them. Why? Due to the lack of empathy and support shown by authorities to help document and fight for the justice these women and children deserve! What’s worse is that we still live in a society in which, victims are BLAMED for something that is completely not and never will be their fault. Victims are ostracized by their friends and family members and made to feel helpless. As a result, living with their traumas that forever negatively impact their psychological and physical well-being. The worst part is that our government refuses to pass a bill (anti-sexual violence bill (RUUPKS)) that can hold these perpetrators accountable and finally create some room for these victims to breathe and feel safe!

We cannot let this continue! How can we as a nation thrive when its women and children are living in a constant state of fear and distrust? I cannot force any of you to speak up regarding this matter, but if you feel inclined to, please remember that your voices DO matter. There really is strength in numbers and if we continue to voice these concerns, I genuinely believe we will be heard, no matter how long it will take. Our journey to end this injustice may still be long and arduous, but I believe we can do it. So say it LOUD and CLEAR:
