Winner of the BRITs Rising Star Award, Celeste was billed for a huge year, but working through the pandemic the artist harbors no resentment against her sharp change of plans. Speaking from her London home, also location to her latest music video I Can See the Change, Celeste talks creative freedom, navigating the industry as a mixed-race woman, her affinity with her Paris fans and, of course, her highly anticipated album. Humble in her acknowledgement of the myriad of milestones she has achieved so early on in her career, Celeste looks to the future with restrained optimism. When asked about fashion, Celeste, by her own admission, is "obsessed", resulting in a series of questionable outfit choices to the shops and on lockdown cycle rides. It seems a sense of humor and perspective grounds everything she does, the unknown future of her album put to rest by her own personal satisfaction with her output. “As long as I feel like it’s really good and I’m proud of it, whatever it sort of does in the world, whether that’s big or small, it won’t necessarily bother me too much,” she says.
