"I haven’t been very open about my mental health journey until somewhat recently, but I’m confident in my story and my ability to use it to help others. Something I learned within the year after my diagnosis is that you have to be your own ally. When you know yourself this deeply, it helps you recognize the roots of your problems and it makes it so much easier to handle things when they come. I had to learn to give myself patience and give myself room to think. I get caught up in what people are thinking of me and I lose touch with myself. I had to learn to let people be upset with me and to give myself patience when i’m struggling, because worrying about them does not solve anything. I love this initiative as the normalization of asking for help for mental illness is so important.
