“It was football that built me,” says Ferhat Ciçek, director of Paris Alésia Football Club.

Ferhat wants the sport to do the same for the kids in his community in Paris’s 14th arrondissement. Since taking over in 2014, when @paris_alesia_fc had 80 kids, Ferhat has grown the club substantially. It now has over 750 players and last season, started a girls’ program.

“Here we have a big stadium that can welcome a lot of different people,” Ferhat says. “Here is a football club for all the levels. Here is a place where you meet people. Here the language that is spoken is football.”
