For a person whose life was lived across social media, this may have struck many as a cop out, and a way to hide. But it was important to me to do this work, and to begin private outreach to those parties who had been harmed as a result of working at The Wing. Last week I sent an email to @flewthecoup taking ownership of how my decisions, priorities and actions negatively impacted employees, and I want to apologize to them - this time publicly. I am also in the process of reaching out to a number of people private to make direct apologies. I’m no longer a part of The Wing, or on its Board of Directors. But I wanted to use my position of privilege as a co-founder of the company, and as a white woman to uplift their voices. If you aren’t aware of it, Flew The Coup has created a grant program that is providing support to former hourly employees. You can learn more about the program on their page. The original vision of The Wing sought to celebrate the sanctity of women’s friendships, create space for them to take big risks and stand up to injustice. But despite these intentions, we began to uphold the kind of societal inequality we set out to upend. My hope is that my errors will not discourage other women from taking big, ambitious ideas into the world, but that they can contribute to the creation of a blueprint for how to get it right in the future.」10月14日 23時56分
