The world lost a hero yesterday and it breaks my heart that it happens to be the best grandfather I’ve ever known. My sweet and precious Bowka. ❤ He was such an honorable man with an incredible legacy. He escaped death many times under the Saddam Hussein regime for being a true activist for the Kurdish cause. He had no choice but to flee from our homeland since he was wanted and killed for being an activist and a very forward thinker who took his gift as an artist and dedicated it to the kurdish cause. Growing up, there was never a kurdish home I’d walk into without seeing one of my grandpa’s paintings - and still to this day. He was admired by so many & gave the kurdish people a hope that will forever live through his art. I can still smell his signature cologne and hear his sweet laugh. If you ever wondered where the name 'Sazan' came from, it came from this man. Life is so short but I'm grateful for all the memories that will stay alive in my heart forever. I’m so happy Stevie and teeny had opportunities to meet him and see how awesome he was. My heart is aching at the thought that I can’t go see him and kiss him one last time but I know that he lived a full life and is truly resting in peace.
