Sometimes you feel so alone it makes sense. The feeling of isolation is so real and so vivid. An unbearable calmness much like a wave of humidity that washes over you. Some days, I would dread the night because I knew the seemingly never ending feeling of emptiness that awaited when the sun set. A desire to numb the pulsing pain by lulling myself to sleep.

Loving yourself from 0 to 100 doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and while it is something that is deeply yearned for, we can’t ignore our natural instinct to hide away to protect ourselves from being hurt.

A daily dose of softness is required to keep afloat, so as to not let my heart turn to stone. I dip my toes in the water, I tread slowly and I learn to float.

Open yourself up, let someone take your hand and allow yourself to feel the warmth of being loved. And with that, not only will you be able to love yourself more, you will come to love others just as much as you love yourself. I too, am learning myself.
