It was 9 years ago today that I and my brother & sisters lost our Dad, Bill Lee. He was a total badass. Loved by everyone, he made a deal to save the University Of Miami School of Music (now called Frost School Of Music) from obscurity, and then built it into the progressive powerhouse of learning that it is today, simply out of his love for music and musicians, who loved him back. He’s the official biographer for Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson and Billy Taylor. He has tons of published books and original music. He was a bebop pianist (check out our father-son Charlie Parker tribute collaboration “Birdhouse” by Will Lee & Bill Lee on iTunes, Spotify, etc). We miss you, Dad. I’m so lucky to be one of your kids. #thisboyslife
