I still marvel at her artistry. I’ve spent nearly every one of my adult birthdays, which happens to fall on Dia de Los Muertos at the Hollywood Forever cemetery. We went before we had kids, then when we had kids we took them with us. We look forward every year to honoring not only our loved ones who’ve left us, but the people we never knew who come back to life for one night through their families magnificent colorful, achingly personal altars. I’ve felt so close to so many people I never met through this powerfully positive way of grieving. There seems to be no roadmap for how how to process death in our culture, which is why I think I’ve always gravitated toward the Hispanic tradition. It just feels like the healthiest and most honest, even joyful way to dance in harmony with the inevitable. I will miss being there this year and witnessing this profoundly creative celebration of what it means to be human. Good, bad and everything in between. Especially at a time in our world when it feels like we all have a lot of grieving to do and no place to put it. #diadelosmuertos #lacatrina #hollywoodforevercemetery」10月25日 4時24分 - rachelgoodwinmakeup
