Being a foster parent to a newborn turtle is a stressful way to spend five minutes. My turtle, Lucy, made it to the ocean, whereas @alexsikkema turtle, Ezra, was scooped up by a Seagull at the last seconds (see final slide for the devastating video). Our neigbours turtle, Tyga, was attacked by a crab, deflected the attack, made it to the water only to be picked up by a gull minutes later.

Releasing the #oliveridley turtles in the beaches of #Oaxaca increases their chance of survival threefold. I hope that Lucy makes it and returns to her birthplace to lay her own eggs someday.
