For the longest time, if I wasn’t certain that I was going to be the best at what I was doing, I wouldn’t even give it a try. Knowing that others did better would trigger too many insecurities, self doubt and feelings of unworthiness. At the time I thought this strategy was a genius protection mechanism ( lol 🙄) But then at some point I realized that all it was really doing was keeping me from trying new things, from getting better and most importantly, from doing things that I secretly loved. Singing was definitely one of those activities I wouldn’t allow myself to do. Today, it brings so much joy to play and sing, even if I know that there are plenty more talented musicians and singers out there. Sometimes, it’s not about being the best. And it’s not about comparing yourself to others. It’s just about doing what you love being who you are. And you, do you fully allow yourself to experiment with new things and have fun, without judging yourself ?
