My grandmother Beverly Moorehead loved the Obamas. So before she passed I took her to the White House to meet them. Beverly, who we all called Mama, called herself "Obama Mama." I told @Barack Obama this months before I brought her to the White House. This pic was taken by me at his birthday party. There were no cameras allowed but when he saw my grandmother, he stopped and said "is that the Obama Mama?" Then he asked an aide to get a camera, I took this pic and he had it sent to us. Try to imagine how a Black woman, born in South Carolina in the 1930s, felt after meeting the first black president. I wrote a song about this and how she impacted my life.
