I met Lauren Underwood years ago when she was running for Congress in Illinois’ 14th district. She is a powerhouse! A registered nurse and health policy expert, Lauren has the hands-on knowledge we need from leadership to prioritize our communities, especially during a pandemic! She served as a Senior Advisor to the US Department of Health and Human Services in the Obama Administration, and helped communities across the country achieve broader access to Medicare, improve healthcare quality, and worked to reform private insurance. When she won her election in 2018, she did so historically by winning every single county in the district! She is the youngest Black woman ever elected to Congress! And she is crushing it! She’s introduced 42 pieces of legislation, passed 15 out of the House, and had 3 pieces of bipartisan legislation signed into law so far. She’s a hero and a leader, and someone I just love spending time with!
