Prints With A Past…
Pelham was one of the earliest patterns created by Laura Ashley on her kitchen table. In 1954, Laura was inspired by the film ‘Roman Holiday’ featuring Audrey Hepburn. On a holiday to Italy, Laura noticed that the film had sparked a huge headscarf trend amongst young girls. So of course, Laura decided to use this eye-catching geometric pattern within a headscarf design.
The design was a huge success, and over the years, the print has since been featured across a variety of both home and fashion accessories. It was also used in a special collection to celebrate our 60th Anniversary in 2013.
The distinctive pattern can also be found on our current range of outdoor planters, available at various garden centre stockists across the UK.
Do you have any items that feature the iconic Pelham print?
