My adoption is a big part of my story, although I didn’t realize it until more recently. Throughout this year I have come to realize how my adoption has affected me in both positive and negative ways. I do not speak for all adoptees but many, including myself sometimes feel at a loss. It can at times feel like we don’t really know who we are. It’s a difficult thing knowing next to nothing about your past and if the things you were told about yourself are true. We have a culture in our veins that we will never naturally know. However, I am very grateful for where I am today. Adoption to me is all about chosen family. I get to choose who I want in my life and I am so very thankful for everyone that is.
