For many years when I lived in London, each season I would hop on the Euro taking the three hour trip to Paris for the day, to see Colette Dinnigan and her beautiful shows at Paris Fashion Week at the Musee De Louvre. She was one of the few Australia Fashion designers ever to be invited to show her collections there. After each show we would find our way through cobbled streets and often a door like this, to where she was showing her samples, to place our orders. And soon after a quick trip to any of the legendary Steak Frites restaurants (where the only thing on the menu is, well, Steak and fries) we would hop back on the train home. We sold so much Colette Dinnigan over the years from our London boutiques and I miss her extravagant designs, adorned with feathers and jewels, and the market for them that existed back then before the world started wearing activewear and denim.
