My name is Brittni (@brittnipaul.ink) and I’m a flora & fauna illustrator with a passion for environmental conservation & science! I’m spending one magical week taking over Sakura of America’s page so that I can show you my work and the unique ways I use their art supplies! About a year and a half ago, I swapped my ink on paper technique for inking directly on sustainably sourced wood. I find inspiration in the shapes and knots in these wood slices and often find my subject matter just by looking at the wood slices’ silhouette. Follow along this week to learn more about my drawing process. Like most of my work, I used Pigma #brushpens to fill in the background and a variation of Pigma Micron fine liner pens (sizes 005, 01, 02, 03, 05 & 08) to draw in the details, stippling & linework. I finish most of my pieces with white Gelly Roll pens which I use to highlight the animals, botanicals & stars. I’ve also recently started using more watercolor in my work with the help of #SakuraKoi Studio Watercolor Palette!
