The complexities of injury are deep and often unknown. The reality of dealing with injury can be turbulent, overwhelming and scary. When presented with a new reality you are forced to gain perspective. There’s an unwritten mandatory requirement to learn the art of balancing resilience and fragility and to allow tenacity and patience to coexist within you when dealing with injury. It can be an infuriating yet educational process. My knee operation back in July left me dealing with residual back pain due to a complication with the epidural. It’s been an arduous path to get a diagnosis and understanding of a complex issue. I have such deep gratitude to the team around me who have worked so tirelessly to get me to where I am today. For their constant desire to pursue a path through the chaos. For their belief, their honesty and their trust. I’ve been so fortunate to be able to keep training throughout this time. To still be making gains. In many respects I feel stronger, fitter and healthier than ever and I can not wait to be able to show this on the wall! Today I had a procedure that we hope will relieve the pain and allow me to get back to training and climbing unrestricted, after some rest of course. I don’t yet know if this will finally be the long awaited end. I do know that my desire to climb burns so deep within me. A flame that cannot be dampened. Thank you to the support of @tnluk !
