I’ve learned the hard way that this is sadly happening across our city, especially around Oxford St, Regent St, Covent Garden, Soho etc. I’m not here to be an anti-PR machine as we head into Christmas. I just want people to be aware and safe. People just need to be wise to the fact there are organised gangs on mopeds and bikes, and they know that we’re all stopping to gawp at the Christmas lights, so they come from behind on their bikes and snatch your phone and BOOM... they’re gone. 😭 We all rely on our phones so much, so it’s worth being safe on the streets, and also taking time to check that your photos and docs are all backed up, because if you lose your memories it’s a pretty painful experience. So use things like iCloud or backup to your PC etc. 👌🏼 Also think about your two-factor authentication for Instagram and have it set up to a different number than the one being stolen (theoretically)... or you will get locked out like I did. 🙈🤦🏻‍♂️ I have a spare PayAsYouGo phone / SIM for this purpose now so I can get back online quicker and faster. Oh and if it happens, which I hope it won’t, call your network provider - ask a police officer if needs be - to block the SIM to the phone. 📸 AND for photography, whether with a camera or phone, have a friend watch over you whilst you’re taking pics. I’ve got so many messages from people who’ve had the same thing happen. So many phones. And a few with expensive cameras. So we all need to be alert. I was the 9th person in 1 HOUR to get caught in the same spot opposite Selfridges. BE AWARE.
