(CW: murder & violence against the trans community)⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Today we honor the lives of the transgender people we have lost. This year to date, 37 transgender people have been violently killed in this country, and the vast majority are Black or Latinx. This is the highest number the HRC has ever recorded making 2020 the most violent year against the transgender community that we know of. And that number only accounts for trans folks who's gender was acknowledged by those surviving, and completely erases the trans people who's true identity went unacknowledged even in death. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Their deaths leave me doubled over in grief and anger. Though the part that resounds in my body the loudest is the hate that lives on. We must keep fighting against the hate, the ignorance, the rage that killed these beautiful people.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ TO MY CIS FOLLOWERS - speak up in your communities. Help the people you know who don't understand the rampant assault on trans lives build their compassion and heart for protecting the most vulnerable in our society. You can do this.
