@awkwafina is our December cover star! 🌟 The actor, comedian, rapper and author broke big in Crazy Rich Asians, broke hearts in The Farewell—and won a Golden Globe for her efforts—and is about to break ground next year in films that reinforce the importance of representation. Nora Lum, best known by her alter ego #Awkwafina, is a star unlike anybody else—and she’s only just getting started. “When you’re young and you turn on the TV and don’t see kids that look like you, then by default you take the perspective of an outsider,” she explains to #VogueAustralia. “Without [representation], you’re literally sitting there playing imaginary friends.” She adds: “It’s different than just being the Asian front girl, in a group of girls, with no development, no substance.
