For several months, Iraqi youth successfully occupied central Baghdad, where hundreds of protestors were killed and thousands injured, prompting Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to resign. COVID-19 brought Iraq’s protests to a halt, but their impact continues. Here, Iraqi protestors take cover from Iraqi security forces that are firing tear gas and rubber bullets.
