"Winter has now finally arrived in Iceland and it’s starting to get white all-over. This brings back memories to last winter when tourists would still brace the horizontal Icelandic snowstorms. Captured on January 9th 2020, I find it sometimes hard to believe just how much the world and our lives have changed within the same year."

This beautiful building is a church, called Hallgrímskirkja (Icelandic pronunciation : [ˈhatl̥krimsˌcʰɪrca], literally "church of Hallgrímur"). It is a Lutheran church (Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Iceland) located southeast of downtown Reykjavik, Iceland.

Its architecture is reminiscent of the basalt organs, present in large numbers in Iceland. It owes its name to the poet and pastor Hallgrímur Pétursson, author of the "Passion Psalms", a major text in the history of Icelandic literature. Because of its size, it is often considered, wrongly, as a cathedral.
