I made this picture of my good friend and constant source of inspiration @tonyvaccarophotographer, holding his pictures of Sophia Loren and Pablo Picasso, using the #Mi10TPro phone by @xiaomi.global, as part of #MyUnsungHeroes project. Tony is an incredible 98 year old COVID survivor who made some powerful images during World War II. He then reinvented himself as a major force in fashion and magazine photography.

Tony and I met in New York because we had studios next to each other. I had known his work for many years, and most recently we were both inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame. One of the things I admire about Tony is that he photographed in virtually impossible circumstances during the war; he even sometimes developed his film in his helmet at night.
