"In Kenya where I grew up, we didn't have that many opportunities. We didn't know that girls could pursue their own dreams. We did not know girls could be professional athletes, make their own money and build their own lives. Here in America I see everything as an opportunity. ​

I want to go back to my village and tell those girls that I succeeded, I have a college degree, I'm going to Tokyo in 2021 and they too can do it. I think it's very important to see somebody that looks like you, because you can see yourself in them, and then you will work very hard to achieve your goals as well.” ​
