As part of @theslowfactory first SCIENCE INCUBATOR we’ve been fortunate enough to be paired with Dr. Theanne Schiros of Columbia University who has created an amazing new cellular textile made completely from waste. If that’s too difficult to understand, don’t worry that’s how we felt at first. But as we familiarized ourselves with the process and her studies it’s basically everything we’d been looking for. We knew for a while that we had to start looking outside of our own industry to find renewable sources of raw materials to work with. So we teamed up with Dr. Schiros, who helped us begin to answer the question: How can we translate naturally existing non-toxic substitutes into our design without damaging the environment.
