Did you know the inspiration for “Home Alone” came from “Uncle Buck”?

During the shooting of “Uncle Buck,” director John Hughes had a flash of inspiration during a scene in which Macaulay Culkin was staring through the mail slot in a home.

It gave him the idea for a movie about a kid who defends his house. That idea turned into his script for “Home Alone.”
