With no formal training - and a competing interest in piano - Adams’ first photographs, including architectural views of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition evidence his innate aptitude for composition. He found early success photographing in Yosemite Valley, with images published in the Sierra Club Bulletin as early as 1922 and his first portfolio, Parmelian Prints of the High Sierras, realized in 1927.
