It’s been the one thing on the horizon the last few months that I’ve been looking to with hope. I called my mom (as I often do when the world feels impossible), and we came up with a plan. Well, a 'plan b.' We decided to meet up earlier this fall, about halfway between our homes, to have an early holiday celebration at a campsite. We wanted to make it extra special for the kids, so I surprised them, and didn’t tell them why we were quarantining for the two weeks before we loaded up the car for our trip. Eek! It was such a hard secret to keep! Another secret I had to keep? I teamed up with @REI and @subaru_usa, and planned some fun outdoor adventures to do with my parents, and was sending them home with some holiday gifts! Was it a typical holiday celebration? Nah, but that’s okay. We hiked, and biked, and watched the sunset behind the towers in the desert, and the kids loved setting up a fort with blankets in the back of the Ascent.
