The swans are back in town at Lake Inawashiro! 🦢💕

Migrating swans fly all the way from Sibera to spend their winters at Lake Inawashiro in Fukushima. As the lakes in Siberia freeze over, the swans travel south to find warmer waters. Although Lake Inawashiro is far from warm in the winter as its banks cover with snow, the lake doesn’t freeze over, so swans are able to find plenty of food to eat. 🦢✨🍽

Every year Fukushima residents get excited about the arrival of their feathered friends from abroad as a sign of the arrival of winter. You’ll even find swan themed décor around the lake such as a swan tunnel that you can drive through. People gather around the parks to watch the swans and ducks play and settle in to their home for the winter.🥰🦢

When I visited it was pretty cold so I wore a warm coat and found a seat on a bench near the water where I enjoyed my coffee and watched the elegant birds paddle around the water. In the distance the Aizu Bandai mountain is capped with snow, I’m so excited to go skiing! ⛷❄️🏂

After a while it got a bit cold and my hot coffee was all gone, so, I got up to go to get something to eat. Like the swans, I also came to Lake Inawashiro to get something good to eat. 😏🍽😋...The worst kept secret of Lake Inawashiro is the delicious soba restaurants around the lake. I do have a favorite place... but it’s a secret so you’ll have to find out for yourself. If you must know you can comment below and mayyybe I will share this top secret info in a private message. 🤫😉
