A colorful fireball of the 2020 Geminid Meteor Shower on December 13/14, seen through the horizon clouds in this lucky scene as SIGMA Ambassador @babaktafreshi poses on a rock. Stars of the Big Dipper and Little Dipper appear in the sky with Polaris (commonly called the North Star), on the top-left.
"Fireball" is a term for dazzling meteors (brighter than planet Venus). While most regular shooting stars are formed by tiny, sand-grain size objects, the much less common fireballs are made by walnut-size or larger objects which may reach the ground as a meteorite.
5-second exposure captured with the SIGMA fp and 20mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens.
