My beautiful friend has started a community outreach project with a very simple concept: putting donations directly into the hands of people who need it. I have put a link in my bio and whatever you purchase from the wishlist will be sent to her and she’ll deliver. If you are not comfortable purchasing via amazon, you can also venmo her at youmewe, or send costco gift cards. There are SO many homeless people in Los Angeles, a place that is filled with so much wealth and and so many resources, but we are conditioned to just walk by these people and ignore them. This project is about getting basic supplies to these people but also to serve as a reminder that they are human beings who need and deserve love and comfort and safety. Unfortunately our systems fall short at providing the safety nets needed for so many. Our homeless population has gone up almost 13% since 2019 and is on the rise. More and more people who were on the fringes of poverty are now being pushed into homelessness through this pandemic, especially due to our lack of affordable housing. We need to spread love and take care of each other through these incredibly hard times… Taking care of our community is a form of self care.
