The Acme Spinning Mill, the source of so much of his industrial painting, looms on the horizon, and the topography of the street is made up of Lowry's composite terraces, churches and factory chimneys.⠀

The viewer's eye is drawn to follow the curvature of the road to either side of the canvas: up to the church, and down to the factory, with the end of row house in the middle.⠀
