For those of you that have followed BUB since the beginning (or are familiar with her book), then you know that Smoosh was her first and only “boyfriend”, and is also the first cat she ever met. Like BUB, he was truly one-of-kind. With a uniquely sweet, tender and peculiar personality, the most intriguing eyes I’ve ever had the honor of looking into, and an exquisitely plush coat that once made my daughter Lula mistake him for a luxurious pillow, he ranks as one the most amazing cats to have ever lived on our planet. He was the only cat I’ve ever seen BUB “tolerate”, and she even lived with him and our very close friends David and Kristin several times when I had to leave town. Smoosh and his family are some of our closest friends, and played a huge part in BUB’s life and legacy. In addition to being regular BUBbysitters, David designed the very first BUB shirt over 8 years ago (and many others since then), and his father Dr Art Woodruff was BUB’s amazing vet from the day I brought her home until the day she left for space.
