来年、伊勢志摩で開催される国際会議、太平洋・島サミットの広報の方にパラオで見てきたこと、感じたことを取材をして頂きました！

#ラジオDJ で #JICA中部 オフィシャルサポーターを務める #空木マイカ さんは冒頭でそう綴った。エッセイ調で紡がれた言葉には、地球 #環境 について考えさせられる情報が詰まっていた。

日本とアメリカの統治を経て独立を果たしたパラオ共和国。「賛成反対の間で涙を流すほど悩み、大事なのはtrust（信頼）だと国中の住民に話をしに行かれたそうです」空木さんは独立に尽力されたクニオ・ナカムラ元大統領に聞いたエピソードを教えてくれた。

実父が #伊勢市出身 のナカムラ元大統領。”#三重県 は #第ニの故郷 と呼べる場所”とPALM9の開催も楽しみにされていたそうだが今年10月にご逝去された。

似ていませんか？と見せてくれたパラオの国旗。「パラオの #国旗 は日本の影響を受けているとも仰っていました。国旗の真ん中の黄色い丸は #満月 。パラオでは、満月には良い意味がある。平和という意味もあるそうです。」

"In #Palau, I think I found a lot of clues for a new future that comes after the changes of values and social systems in the COVID-19 pandemic."

Said Maika Utsugi, a #RadioDJ and the #JICA Chubu official supporter. Her essay-tone words are full of information that makes you think about the global #environment.

The Republic of Palau became independent after being governed by Japan and the US. Japanese language and ceremonies still remain. "In the process of the independence, he struggled to shed tears between pros and cons, and he traveled all over the country to talk to the residents about the importance of trust." Ms. Utsugi told us episodes of the former president Kunio Nakamura, who committed himself to the independence.

Because his father was from Ise, the former president Nakamura was looking forward to PALM9, saying “Mie is my #SecondHome, “ but he passed away in October 2020. Ms. Utsugi showed us the national flag of Palau saying "Similar, isn't it?" "He said the national flag of Palau was affected by Japan. The yellow circle in the center is the #FullMoon. It indicates a good thing in Palau. It also means peace."
