Pierre Cardin, the fashion designer known for his innovative and avant-garde designs, has died. He was 98 years old. A lover of the Space Age style, Cardin invented what is now known as the “bubble dress”—but his fascination with the shape didn’t end there. In 1991, Cardin purchased the Antti Lovag-designed Bubble House (Palais Bulles) in Cannes, pictured here, and furnished it with his own creations. In this singular home, Cardin hosted the likes of Marion Cotillard and Pierce Brosnan, and even let Dior take it over for its cruise 2016 collection in May 2015.
