Daria has chosen to dedicate Ai Weiwei's Sunflower Seeds, an installation that filled Tate Modern's Turbine Hall from October 2010-May 2011. Made up of millions of small works—each apparently identical, but actually unique—these life-sized, lifelike sunflower seed husks were in fact intricately hand-crafted in porcelain. 'Diana is my best friend, but most of our friendship has been lived long distance because we met right before I left to study abroad. We met in Bucharest, Romania, where we both grew up and lived before we left for university. The first time we hung out as friends, she brought me a sunflower, which remained a symbol of our friendship to me (she is still saved as Diana🌻 in my phone). If I had a sunflower seed for all the times I've felt endless love and gratitude for Diana, it would look like Ai Wei Wei's work!'
