New York based visual artist Yuvraj Khanna @yuvsees shot a series of people enjoying a bit of fresh air at Brighton Beach after months of lockdown. “A regular summer with rising temperatures sees New Yorkers eagerly heading out of their small apartments to take a dip in the ocean.” he says. “However with pandemic eclipsing the usual summer frolicking, the simple act of going to the beach became a strong intentional choice. Beaches have become a precious open space, a place to breathe freely, leave worldly troubles behind, vent a little or just spend hours looking at the vastness of the ocean. On a chance trip to Brighton Beach, I noticed how the beach remained lively and diverse, so I started to document people there and asked them what they see for themselves in the future.”
