May our summit be the metaphorical one that all humanity strives for: a world free of pain and suffering, a world defined by equity and care, a world for all living things and an environment that can sustain humanity. It’s a tremendous big goal. Unattainable some might say. Then again, if we don’t try we will never know what could be. We work hard. If we don’t push the edge we’ll never know our collective potential. We all have different pitches to lead and camps to make, yet if we share the same summit of happiness, the world will be a better place. We realize that competition between humans, solely for the sake of dominance or winning, always leaves somebody out. We are in this together. Which is why the metaphor of a summit rings true. You climb a mountain on trust and cooperation. The opposite, deceit and antagonism, impedes your climb making things much more dangerous. In society, harboring hate and anger burns the person and their community. When we find a way to extinguish meanness, rather than feeding it, we can bring about world world based on kindness and compassion. Lets take a deep breath, lace our boots, check our knots and work towards this summit, that ideal place humans have aspired to since we became cognizant of our own existence.
