ケイト・ボスワースさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ケイト・ボスワースInstagram)「I first met @amandascgorman at a dinner hosted by @vitalvoices , an incredible organization committed to investing in fearless women leaders with daring vision. That evening, Amanda performed a poem she had written called, “We Rise.” Energy poured out of her heart and soared through the room; her words piercing the air we breathed, carried on a fearless and dazzling spirit. Simply, I thought, “this girl is going to change the world.” . On January 20th, 2021 — she did exactly that. I watched my friend ascend the steps at the Presidential Inauguration and onto the world’s center stage, as her words threaded through our broken hearts and found a way to mend them. This girl, her soul, wrapped in gold, shimmering, shining, healing. Proving words do matter. . It’s quite something to watch as a supernova is born. A thunderous collective heartbeat of applause and awe. Of course, those of us who knew her prior to Jan 20th understood it was only a matter of time. In a recent interview for KIND.EST, I asked our brilliant Youth Poet Laureate: “Do you consider yourself a rebel?” She answered: “Sometimes the best way for me to finish a poem is to lean into that rebellious nature. I think my generation might not all be poets, but there's definitely an undeniable resistant energy there; pushing back against the old and the accepted, towards the new, hopeful, and helpful.” . Take this insight, and listen again to her last line in “THE HILL WE CLIMB” Amanda ... standing confidently — boldly — and in all her Power: “When day comes we step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid, the new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it.” . (If you’d like to read my full interview w/ #amandagorman for KIND.EST // LINK IN BIO 💛 ) .
