Call him what you will - Sensation Monger, Trash Pope, Low-Rent Oscar Wilde, Prince of Puke, Scatological P.T. Barnum (as the actor Alan Cumming once described him) - Waters is simply sui generis. A chronicler of freaks, outcasts and the depraved since his first short film, “Hag in a Black Leather Jacket”, debuted in 1964, the shadow of his iconic eyebrow-pencil moustache still looms large today, over a half-century into his career.
