That meant that I grew up with a philosophy for reciprocity, a philosophy of “we take care of Mother Earth because Mother Earth takes care of us.” As I grew older, I realized that that relationship was being broken all around me. People were actually polluting and contaminating, and exploiting without thinking. A turning point was when my hometown flooded. That’s the first time that I realized that the climate crisis was not happening in 2050, or 2100 — that it was manifesting itself.
