I was so sad thinking about the families of everyone involved, but when I caught wind that Hayden (pictured on the right) was a huge @portlandgear fan it hit really deep. I visited his house in Newberg and talked with his mom Alix, best friend Cody, and girlfriend Claire, where they opened up about his dreams and desires to start his own apparel brand and become a designer. Hayden would spend hours on his computer creating t-shirt graphics, brand names, and exploring ways to express himself creatively. With every story they’d tell I saw myself, 17 years old, having the same thoughts and dreams. When they opened his computer after his passing, the latest logo and brand name was “Sunshine Studios.” When I heard this I knew instantly that I wanted to help bring these designs out into the world and do a collaboration with our brand.
