This lockdown in Wales hasn’t been allll about the Moonboard and winter walks for me, I have also gone back to formal education! 🙀 The ongoing pandemic gave me the kick up the bum to do something different. I’m always learning, for myself and to be a better coach, but it felt like the right time to benefit from the structure and content of formal education. So I’ve started distance, online, part time, flexible (all the things) postgrad study in Neuroscience and Psychology of Mental Health. It’s been 10 years since I was at Bristol Uni studying philosophy and I haven’t studied science since high school in 07 😂 so my brain feels like it’s being put in a blender! Apart from the challenge level being mega high it’s been pretty wonderful so far.

You might be wondering why mental health and not sport psychology? Although I’m interested in performance and spent a lot of time studying flow state with @theflowcentre deep down my motivation to coach was first wellbeing and second performance. Luckily the two things are compatible. Anyway, I’m pretty excited to learn more about the science behind mental health, something which seems as important as ever at the moment.
